Job summary

Louisville Gas and Electric Company (LG&E) and Kentucky Utilities Company (KU), part of the PPL Corporation family, are offering an intern level position. The intern will gain hands-on experience in the utility industry under close supervision and will work on maintenance, inspection, and installation of meter equipment.

You will learn to use hand tools, read simple drawings, and prepare for the EEI CAST test while performing other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in a technical field.
• Applicable degree fields include Engineering and Electronics Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Advanced Automation & Robotics Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 2.50 GPA.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance activities as required to maintain, repair, inspect, install, test, and troubleshoot single phase and polyphase meter equipment.
• Learn the proper use of hand tools, power tools, hoist, drill presses, grinders, and other tools and equipment pertaining to the work.
• Assist employees in carrying out work assignments.
• Clean equipment undergoing repairs, handle and move material, supplies and equipment in connection with the work and work area.
• Be able to learn to make and read simple drawings and sketches.
• Prepare and take the Edison Electrical Institute (EEI) CAST test measuring job responsive aptitude, ability to retain knowledge, and problem-solving skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
