Job summary

Aecon in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Craft Recruiter to support recruitment for trades positions across our industrial projects. You will partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, post requisitions, screen resumes, and help build a positive labour relations environment.

The role requires experience in full-cycle recruiting in a high-volume setting, knowledge of construction industry labor dynamics, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources or related field.
  • 2+ years of full-cycle recruitment in a high-volume environment.
  • Knowledge of construction industry and trade unions.
  • Bilingual ability preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand recruitment needs and guidance on screening.
  • Post job requisitions and source candidates via media, events, and social platforms.
  • Screen resumes and interview candidates to determine qualifications.
  • Assist with onboarding documentation (offers, agreements, etc.).
  • Develop relationships with leaders and stakeholders to foster effective partnerships.
  • Maintain job descriptions and stay updated on construction industry trends.
  • Other duties as required.

What is the Opportunity?

From fabrication and modularization to new builds, turnaround and maintenance, Aecon Industrial leads the way in industrial construction and water infrastructure, providing clients in Canada and the U.S. with vertically integrated solutions and exceptional self-perform work. Reporting to the Manager of Labour Relations, the Craft Recruiter is responsible for providing recruitment support for trades positions and will assist with building and fostering a positive labour relations environment between our Project Teams and trade union partners.

What You'll Do Here
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their recruitment needs and provide guidance on the screening process.
  • Post job requisitions internally and externally, and source candidates through the appropriate media - professional organizations, career fairs/educational institutions, cold calling, and other websites/social media forums.
  • Screen resumes and interview candidates to determine qualifications.
  • Assist with the creation of onboarding documentation (offer letters, agreements, etc.).
  • Develop collaborative relationships with business leaders, hiring managers, site admins and stakeholders to foster effective relationships.
  • Support creation and maintenance of Job Descriptions as required.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of construction industry trends and best practices for recruitment.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.
What You Bring To The Team
  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset.
  • Bilingual candidate is preferred.
  • Established network within the nuclear sector, with the ability to identify, engage, and influence key industry stakeholders and top-tier talent.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in full cycle recruitment in a high-volume environment required. Preference would be given to those with construction, heavy civil, oil and gas, mining or similar experience.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and trade unions is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build superior working relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of provincial employment laws, best practices and legal framework.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills is essential.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple staffing initiatives, competing deadlines, and stakeholder expectations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with HRIS systems.
  • Advanced computer skills MS Office including Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook and grievance or document management systems.
  • Valid Driver’s License required for frequent travel to meetings and conferences.
  • Ability to travel to project sites is an asset.
