Job summary

Cheba Hut Johnston, IA is seeking a Bartender to craft a welcoming bar experience that aligns with our culture. You’ll uphold bar standards, follow alcohol laws, and bring a positive, inclusive attitude to every shift. We serve approachable craft cocktails and local beer, reporting to the General Manager and Bar Manager.

You’ll own guest interactions, suggest signature drinks, deliver fast service across bar, lobby, and patio, and help build a loyal customer base through genuine engagement.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant or food & beverage experience preferred
• Alcohol safety certification (ServeSafe, TIPS, etc.) required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable lifting up to a ½ barrel keg (159 lbs) and embracing Cheba Hut’s playful atmosphere

Responsibilities

• Guest Experience & Interaction: Prioritize interaction over the transaction; Recommend signature cocktails, craft beers, and food items; Deliver efficient service at bar, lobby, and patio; Build loyal guests through genuine engagement.
• Product Quality & SHoperations: Follow bar recipes, SOPs, and product standards; Stay current on drink recipes and brand partners; Practice FIFO and proper labeling; Maintain a clean, stocked, organized bar; Demonstrate integrity with cash handling and discounts.
• Safety & Responsibility: Uphold local and national alcohol laws; Verify IDs and enforce service policies; Monitor guest consumption and act responsibly; Maintain strong situational awareness; Complete incident documentation when required.
• Team Support: Assist with in-shop orders during peak periods; Support Expo, phone orders, and Lobby Love; Maintain beverage stations and prep items; Jump in where the shop needs you most.
• What Makes You a Fit: Prior restaurant or F&B experience preferred; Alcohol safety certification required; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to multitask.
