Job Description:

The CRA Asset Management Associate provides ongoing support to an assigned portfolio (Housing Credits/LIHTC, New Markets tax credits, Loan funds, other CRA qualified and legacy investments) within the Community Capital Group. The Associate will be involved in pre-closing requests and ongoing portfolio and asset management through disposition of each asset. The CRA Asset Mgmt Associate will ensure that all required processes are completed in accordance with Bank standards and CCG procedures while driving data accuracy and quality control to avoid losses, recapture and reduce undue risk. The CRA Asset Management Associate supports and works closely with a senior CRA Asset Manager on construction period monitoring, quarterly and annual reporting, capital calls and syndicator/partner requests. The Associate determines and collects critical information from a variety of sources, third parties, and internal partners for utilization in key tasks within CCG Asset Management and the Housing Credit portfolio management system. During the holding period of each investment, the CRA Asset Management Associate will ensure compliance to Fund/partnership agreements and reporting requirements and documentation align accurately within internal systems. The CRA Asset Management Associate will serve as an expert in the CRA investment process and be a resource for others in the Community Capital Group.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides day to day consistent professional support to Community Capital Group Sr. CRA Asset manager/Asset Management Team Lead in overseeing the bank's CRA investment portfolio from closing through asset disposal
  • Assists with the uploading of reporting documents from syndicator investor portals, RIMS, CCG reporting mailbox, and other reporting sites throughout the holding period
  • Assists Asset Management Team Lead/Sr. CRA Asset manager to extract key data and information to Housing credit asset management system, EUCs
  • Assigned investment tasks may include a mix of Housing credits/LIHTC, New Market Tax credits (NMTC), Loan fund investments, EQ2's, and other public welfare/CRA eligible investments
  • Assists Asset Management Team Lead/Sr. CRA Asset manager in preparing annual investment reviews, watch list, syndicator/sponsor exposure, and other periodic reporting
  • Assists with managing portfolio risk in the Bank's Direct portfolio to monitor and track insurance renewals, real estate tax payments, reserve funding, and compliance matters for the bank's Direct investment portfolio
  • Performs post on-boarding review of new investments on Housing Credit asset management system to ensure data accuracy
  • Builds business relationships with Syndicators/sponsors/Investment partners to determine appropriate contacts for assigned tasks
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of process and procedure for CRA investment products and shares information with others as a subject matter expert
  • Assists with process improvement and change communication relevant to assigned portfolio
  • Serves as a resource and assists with training CRA Asset Management Associates
  • As assigned, works independently in resolving more complex issues relating to reporting, GP requests, capital calls
  • May provide support with onboarding and training activities

Education & Experience:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years related experience required
  • Detailed knowledge of Housing Tax credit and other CRA, public welfare investments products, investment policy and procedures, including tax credit investment structures, AHIC risk ratings, and other related information
  • Excellent Customer service skills, including ability to work with demanding Customers in complex lending relationships
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills and experience
  • Flexible and adaptable to change, with ability to learn new tasks and systems quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and learn quickly
  • Math skills and accuracy with numbers and transactions required
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills resulting in successful completion of multiple priorities to meet objectives

  • PC skills, including extensive experience with and ability to troubleshoot specialized Asset management systems and software and ability to adapt to system changes

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Provides deep technical subject matter expertise/analysis or operational process support as a key resource/representative for the function
  • Identifies, documents, and investigates processes/exceptions arising from transactions/processes beyond first level operations service delivery
  • Leads work streams by acting as a project lead/subject matter expert for small-scale projects/initiatives in accordance with project management methodologies
  • Acts as conduit/coordinator/facilitator bringing in appropriate partners/expertise on key initiatives
  • Communicates project status and provides timely escalation of issues to senior management to ensure project objectives are met
  • Contributes to the identification, development and implementation of new products, operating workflow, additional services/products/applications and/or operational efficiencies
  • Provides accurate and thorough analysis of key process drivers, root or systemic causes of cross functional operational issues, interprets findings, and makes recommendations
  • Accountable for cross-functional/interdepartmental initiatives to deliver value internally or to partner/customer groups
  • Provides upward feedback and analysis, developing and executing on reporting functions and/or producing consolidated or aggregated reporting as appropriate
