Job summary

Qualifications

Why does the job exist?

These positions will support the investigation, permanency and placement units. They can assist in gathering collateral information for investigations and contacting collateral supports. They can enter documentation in the case records and support investigate, placement and permanency staff while in the field when individual visits are of concern. They will support caseworker functions by making referrals for services for children and parents, completing documentation in FACTS/IMPACT for the workers, setting up appointments for caseworkers to visit children, parents and resource parents, completing payments in FACTS/IMPACT for resource parents and providers, supervise community visits, help search for relatives, tracking down records, scheduling and tracking necessary staffing, following up on items that are required after certain staffing, contact references for home studies and help resource parents follow up on outstanding items.

  • Support to caseworkers with activities like contacting collaterals, setting up services and appointments, supervising visits, searching for relatives, tracking down records, tracking meetings, scheduling meetings.
  • Documentation in FACTS/IMPACT for Caseworkers.
Ideal Candidate

Experience as it relates to:

  • Working directly with Children, Youth, and their families;
  • Partner with Community Service providers as it relates to Children, and Youth;
  • Working with Youth in a school setting;
  • Determining eligibility for services that might be needed for the Children, Youth and Families;
  • Conduct and complete assessments of safety, risks, strengths, and family needs;
  • Developing Safety plans for the Children, Youth and Families;
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings;
  • Identify, provide, and/or arrange timely assessments/evaluations/ interviews;
  • Conduct medical case management activities for eligible clients.

High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience as a social or community coordinator and/or social worker assistant. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel is required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints.
