Job summary

HRA/DEPT OF SOCIAL SERVICES in New York City seeks an Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist III to lead the Central Packet Review Unit (CPRU). You will supervise staff, ensure accurate evidence packets for Fair Hearings, and coordinate with multiple agency units to optimize FH outcomes.

The role requires strong supervision, process improvement, and familiarity with FH systems; salary is aligned to NYC civil service scales and benefits packages in a public sector environment.

Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent with three years of full-time experience in social/human services or related setting.
• Bachelor's degree plus eighteen months of full-time experience as Benefits Opportunity Specialist or similar.
• Bachelor's degree plus eighteen months of full-time experience as described above.
• College credits substituting 60 semester credits for 9 months of work experience is allowed, with 18 months of related experience required overall.

Responsibilities

• Supervise CPRU operations for packet preparation covering all BAC centers for cash and SNAP fair hearings.
• Ensure timely and accurate evidence packages and set priorities for assignments.
• Monitor and control use of systems (FHEMS, NYCWAY, WMS, Web Coins) and coordinate with FH Representation as needed.
• Provide trends, issues, and performance feedback to FH outcomes and processes.
• Coordinate with FIA Operations and other units to implement FH processes and ensure quality and deadlines.
• Train subordinates and review FH decisions; adjust evidence packet checklists accordingly.
• Participate in meetings with FIA Operations to discuss trends and improve FH processes.
