Job summary

The University of Kansas seeks Undergraduate Teaching Fellows (UGTFs) for the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering to support faculty instructors in undergraduate courses. Fellows will engage with students in-person during problem-solving and activities to maximize concept mastery, not grading assignments, with some prep outside class.

Applicants should be current undergraduate or graduate students, enrolled in at least 6 credit hours, and prepared to be present on campus for 3–7

Qualifications

  • Must have taken the specified course or an equivalent class and earned at least a ‘B’ in the course.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated mastery of the course content.
  • The job requires physical presence in the course (approx. 3–7 hours) and may demand about 2 hours/week outside of the class to prepare and engage with students.

Responsibilities

  • Help faculty administer activities such as group work, problem solving, lab work, etc., for improving student learning and engagement in key courses.
  • Enhance student learning by interacting with students during class to guide concept mastery.
  • May hold group office hours with other UGTFs.
