Job summary

Cuesta College’s CPAC is seeking technicians at all skill levels to support live performances in the Harold J. Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center. Roles involve setup and operation of theatrical systems, with weekend and weeknight shifts; compensation is commensurate with experience.

Selected technicians will join a team under CPAC leadership, participate in safety training, and contribute to a positive learning environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow instruction and to work well with others.
• Strong oral communication skills.
• Ability to meet stringent deadlines and work at irregular hours.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of students, staff, and community members.
• Beginning or intermediate-level knowledge and understanding of theatrical equipment used for live performances and presentations.
• Interest in one or multiple technical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, safely operate most of the theatrical systems, including: counterweight fly, fire safety, lighting, effects, sound, projection, etc.
• Safely operate at least one system without supervision.
• Strive to acquire working knowledge of all theatrical systems used at the CPAC.
• Adhere to all CPAC policies and procedures and ADA regulations, and assist with evacuation plan in the event of an emergency.
• Attend training workshops and maintenance calls.
• Create an atmosphere of mutual trust and support.
• Work and communicate effectively with students of all skill levels, professional staff, and Cuesta College faculty and administrators.
• Exhibit a helpful attitude toward all students, and staff, and community members.
