Job summary

Heartline Staffing seeks a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for an onsite role in Kalispell, MT. This position reports to clients in tax, accounting, financial reporting and advisory services, building strong relationships with individuals and businesses. Active CPA with public accounting background preferred.

The role requires preparing and reviewing tax returns, financial statements, and tax planning while managing multiple deadlines with accuracy and exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license REQUIRED
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field REQUIRED
• 3+ years of public accounting experience REQUIRED
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations REQUIRED
• Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns REQUIRED
• Proficiency with accounting, tax and financial-reporting software REQUIRED
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills REQUIRED
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities REQUIRED
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills REQUIRED
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities REQUIRED

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal, state and local tax returns
• Work with individual and business tax returns
• Support returns for partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts and estates, and nonprofit organizations
• Conduct tax research and analyze complex tax issues
• Develop tax-planning strategies to minimize liabilities and maximize savings
• Maintain compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations
• Respond to IRS and state tax notices and correspondence
• Assist clients with tax audits and examinations as needed
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
• Assist clients with bookkeeping, general-ledger maintenance and account reconciliations
• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes
• Prepare compiled and reviewed financial statements in accordance with standards
• Serve as a trusted advisor to business owners and individuals
• Provide guidance on entity selection, growth, succession planning and cash-flow management
• Identify opportunities to improve financial performance and efficiencies
• Meet with clients to discuss financial and tax strategies
• Maintain applicable professional standards
• Stay current on evolving tax laws, accounting regulations and industry trends
• Mentor and support junior staff
• Assist with workflow management and quality-control procedures
• Participate in business development and community-engagement activities
