Scope of Position:

This position supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in all phases of plant operations.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties as assigned:

  • Supervise, evaluate, and direct personnel on shift according to sound operating principles and company policies.
  • Promote safety, efficiency, and productivity; ensure proper employee training.
  • Identify and address causes of delays to meet production schedules.
  • Apply company employee relations and union contract policies in dealings with employees.
  • Ensure machinery, equipment, and facilities are maintained and sanitized properly.
  • Prepare and maintain production records (e.g., payroll, yields).
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and management to promote efficiency and teamwork.
  • Attend scheduled or called meetings.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Capabilities / Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of various production jobs and technical skills.
  • Supervisory skills, good interpersonal relations, conflict management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership skills and a team-oriented approach.
  • Experience leading groups, setting objectives, managing performance, and problem-solving.

Skills/Proficiencies:

  • Outstanding communication skills to lead, engage, and motivate teams.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and leadership applications.
  • Proficiency with computer software, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English is a plus but not required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years in a food manufacturing plant or similar; meat experience preferred.
  • College diploma or university degree, or equivalent experience and education.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversee a team of production employees.

Education:

College degree preferred but not required.

Travel:

Less than 10%.
