Job Summary
This Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will provide care to young adult thru geriatric populations in a variety of settings to include IP Rehab, SNF, Acute Care (specific to elective total joints). The PTA will work under the direction of a Physical Therapist (PT) to carry out treatments that focus on returning patients to as normal a pattern of movement and functioning as possible. Treatments will include the use of therapeutic exercise, activity, modalities, and education that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve/prevent/restore impairments and limitations resulting from disease or injury. The PTA collaborates with the supervising PT as well as other medical professionals. PTA’s may be hired for a specific unit but are required to float to all units for coverage. Specialty teams for trained therapists include wound care and lymphedema.
Direct care staff are required to complete all Hip and Knee Replacement Program curriculum and annual education module(s) assigned.
Job Requirements
Education
Required: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
Experience
No prior experience required
Skills
Good clinical expertise, communication skills, human relations skills and organizational skills required.
Self-motivated individual who can work independently with little direct supervision required
Has demonstrated interest in professional growth by attendance at continuing education workshops, and applications of new principles and/or techniques.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Required: Active Missouri licensure for Physical Therapy Assistant. (Temporary licensure not accepted)
Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
