Job summary

Riverside County Sheriff's Office seeks Court Deputies to uphold security in the Superior Courts of Riverside County. Incumbents ensure court order, assist judges, and support the service of civil and criminal documents while performing related duties as required.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a California driver’s license, and a POST Basic/Intermediate/Advanced certificate or completion of the POST Basic Academy. A background check will be conducted.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or an equivalent credential.
• Possession of a California Driver’s License.
• POS T Basic/Intermediate/Advanced certificate required.
• Possession of POS T Basic Academy or equivalent.
• If 3 years have elapsed since active service, must complete the POST equivalency exam.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security in Superior Court and enforce court regulations.
• Respond to judges' or commissioners’ requests for assistance.
• Supervise jurors during deliberations and manage inquiries.
• Take defendants into custody and arrange transportation for court and jury.
• Deliver legal papers, books, and documents as requested.
• Transport prisoners to and from the courtroom and detention facility.
• Assist in serving civil and criminal documents and process office work when not in court.
