The State of Maine Judicial Branch is seeking an Assistant Clerk to support civil, family, and criminal case processing in a Clerk’s Office and courtroom. This full-time role involves extensive public contact and reliable clerical work across multiple computer systems, with a schedule that fits life needs.

Starting pay ranges from $22.65 to $23.82 per hour, with Grade 10 levels. The position offers strong benefits and a commitment to public service within Maine’s court system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of customer service and/or clerical/office experience preferred (college coursework can substitute).
• Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Docket, process, and file matters before the Court.
• Communicate effectively with the public, judges, attorneys, and other agencies.
• Schedule pre-trial activities, trials, motions, and other proceedings.
• Handle fines, fees, and costs paid to or through the Court.
• Serve as courtroom clerk and perform duties as required by the judge.
• Prepare abstracts and reports for various agencies.
• Operate electronic recording machines and maintain logs.
• Participate in jury management activities.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Clerk.
