Job summary

Lexington County Sheriff's Department seeks a part-time courtroom support specialist at the Lexington County Courthouse. The role assists judges, jurors, court personnel, attorneys and the public by maintaining courtroom protocol and ensuring orderly, professional proceedings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of courtroom procedures and proper protocol.
• Ability to know when information may be shared or not.
• Strong written and verbal communication via in-person, phone and email.
• Time management and ability to accommodate requests from judges and juries.
• High School diploma or equivalent; no experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public in navigating courthouse processes.
• Notify deputies for hostile situations while on floor duty.
• Assist presiding Judge and communicate with jury or court staff.
• Escort visiting Judges to parking areas and chambers, handling keys and access.
• Escort Judge to safe location during disturbances.
• Support jury needs and provide initial information on procedures.
• Protect jury integrity by isolating from outside influences.
• Ensure jury comfort and assist with personal needs.
• Escort the jury to/from the courtroom and external facilities.
• Maintain visual contact with the jury room at all times.
• Maintain order in courtroom to minimize interruptions.
• Assist in seating of jury pool for selection.
• Communicate Supreme Court rules on attire and device use to jury.
• Perform other similar duties as required.
