Job summary

Constellis is seeking a Court Security Officer (CSO) to provide protective services around United States Federal Court Houses under a USMS contract. The role requires patrolling facilities, enforcing entry controls, and conducting surveillance to detect threats.

You may escort court personnel and assist during hearings, while maintaining security presence and reporting incidents as required. The position is union-affiliated, and duties include handling alarms, coordinating with law enforcement,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• 3 years of verifiable civilian law enforcement experience OR an equivalent law enforcement position with the U.S. Armed Forces.
• The training must be from a certified academy/program recognized for armed law enforcement powers.
• Pre-placement screening including background and credit checks.
• Pass drug test and physical exam.
• Valid unrestricted state driver's license.
• Fluently read, speak, comprehend and write English.
• Meet medical/physical fitness requirements.
• No felony conviction.
• No misdemeanor domestic violence conviction.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the District's entry and identification system.
• Test and report emergency equipment.
• Patrol court facilities and grounds per post orders.
• Man USMS authorized stationary posts.
• Provide focused surveillance on entrances to detect threats.
• May provide armed escort services for judges and court personnel.
• Provide security for off-site judicial functions with controlled access.
• Direct traffic and monitor lights as per post orders.
• Occasionally be assigned to courtroom security during hearings.
• Maintain security presence in the courtroom and enforce federal law.
• Document incidents and file CSO-003 forms within 24 hours.
• Keep supervisors informed of unusual occurrences per protocols.
• Monitor alarms and radio traffic; dispatch as needed.
• Report fire/burglary alarms and criminal acts.
• Screen and inspect vehicles and pedestrians entering/exiting.
• Use equipment properly and prevent removal of government property.
• Escort individuals or vehicles per post orders.
• Maintain licensing, certifications, training and records for employment.
• Use radios and communications devices according to rules.
• Log property passes and movements.
• Cooperate with law enforcement and testify when required.
• Humans may sit, stand, walk, or run; perform duties in various conditions.
• Maintain security during austere or inclement weather.
• Other duties as assigned.
