We are seeking a Court Reporter (CRS09) to support court reporting and transcription services for DoD/Military Sector clients, including the U.S. Navy. The role involves providing verbatim transcripts during legal proceedings, depositions, and hearings, both in-person and remotely, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to legal standards.
The position requires working during regular hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST, Monday - Friday) with flexibility for outside hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed. Responsibilities include real-time transcription, handling complex legal proceedings, collaborating with team members, and testing virtual litigation platforms. Candidates must have at least two years of court reporting experience, hold relevant certifications (e.g., RPR), and demonstrate proficiency with court reporting equipment and legal terminology.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, proper licensing or certification, and experience with legal and medical terminology. Skills required include concentration, attention to detail, excellent listening and writing skills, and physical ability to perform the duties. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business tools is essential. Security clearance eligibility and U.S. citizenship are mandatory.
Travel may be required within the Hampton Roads area, primarily around Norfolk, Virginia. The candidate must be flexible and able to work at various locations, including courtrooms, agency offices, and ships.
