Job summary

County Courthouse is seeking a Court Reporter to record court proceedings using stenography equipment and to provide accurate, timely transcripts of trials, hearings, and appeals. The role includes reading prior testimony when needed and organizing notes and exhibits for case files.

The candidate will prepare for appealed cases, draft jury charges and other court correspondence, and maintain monthly statistics for Court of Appeals reports.

Qualifications

• Must maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
• Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen.
• Valid Texas Court Stenography Reporter certification.
• Real Time reporting capability.
• Ability to operate stenography equipment.

Responsibilities

• Records court proceedings with stenography equipment (trials, hearings, appeals).
• Reads previous testimony during proceedings when required.
• Categorizes, files and maintains stenography notes and exhibits.
• Prepares for appealed cases and completes written transcriptions of requested cases.
• Prepares jury charges and other court correspondence as requested by the Judge.
• Maintains monthly statistics for Court of Appeals report.
• Performs related duties as required.
