Job summary

The Ninth Judicial District seeks a Court Operations Supervisor for the Crow Wing and Aitkin County work unit. You will lead daily court operations, enforce rules, review and streamline functions, and collaborate with judges, staff, and partner agencies to ensure timely, accurate case processing.

Under general supervision, you will supervise staff, manage budgets and equipment, and implement policies to improve workflow and customer service in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Considerable supervisory/leadworker experience in a court or high-volume setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of court administrative processes; related degrees may apply.
  • Strong supervisory techniques and privacy knowledge.
  • Experience with remote work supervision is preferred.

  • Oversee financial controls over receipts and disbursements.
  • Provide orientation and training on new rules and legislation.
  • Develop policies to ensure record retention and accessibility; adjust procedures for efficiency and compliance.
  • Maintain employee personnel records and payroll.
  • Manage division budget and equipment.
  • Ensure confidentiality and public access for case documents.
  • Implement management principles to improve workflow and customer service in a high-volume environment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve efficiency and processing.

Job description

The Ninth Judicial District is seeking to fill a Court Operations Supervisor position within the Crow Wing and Aitkin County work unit.

The Court Operations Supervisor leads the day-to-day operations of the Court, administering and enforcing all relevant rules and policies. Reviewing, evaluating, planning and streamlining daily functions and working with the public, judges, court staff, partnering with county and state agencies to ensure that cases are processed in a timely and accurate manner.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the court administrator and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and on the basis of the results obtained.

Example of Duties - What You Will Do
  • Supervise staff including, hiring, training, coaching, reviewing, disciplining of staff.
  • Supervise matters relating to the maintenance of financial control over receipts and disbursements.
  • Provide orientation and training to staff members regarding new rule/legislation that impact all divisions.
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures to comply with statutes and procedures that impact record retention and accessibility; change unit procedure or policy to simplify work processes so the unit works more efficiently or to comply with statutes.
  • Maintain employee personnel records and payroll.
  • Maintain equipment, supervise division purchases and budget.
  • Train and oversee employees on case and individual document confidentiality/public access.
  • Develop and implement management principles and operational strategies to improve workflow efficiencies, team cross-training and customer service in a high-volume environment.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, justice agency partners, and other court divisions to build trust, increase efficiencies and ensure the fair and timely processing of court processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

  • High school diploma or graduation from a vocational school or equivalent
  • Considerable experience as a Supervisor, Court Clerk Leadworker, Court Operations Associate, or equivalent work in a court, legal setting, or other fast-paced, high-volume, and technology-dependent environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Court Administrative Processes Paralegal, Associate, or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Considerable knowledge of effective supervisory and management techniques
  • Skill in effective team building, planning and/or supervising the work of others in a remote work environment.

Supplemental Information

The hours for this position will be between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday; hours may vary depending on business needs.

The expected starting salary for candidates is $34.40 per hour to midpoint of the salary range, depending on qualifications. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits.

Current judicial branch employees must have satisfactory performance in all competencies in their most recent performance evaluation and no discipline above an oral reprimand in the preceding 6 months.
