Position Overview

The Course Materials Market Manager has full accountability for managing and monitoring the course materials inventory lifecycle across multiple locations (remotely). Responsibilities include collecting, editing, confirming, and entering faculty adoption information, setting Quantity to Cover (QTC) textbook buying decisions, and initiating & controlling purchase order tasks for ACCESS & student choice adoption and program types for all assigned Market stores.

The role reports directly to the Course Materials Regional Manager or Course Materials Market Leader and collaborates with ACCESS Success Managers and Support teams. The manager is responsible for regular campus and store communications, driving course materials strategy with in-person store team members to ensure accurate and timely setup and receipt of physical products, sales, and disposition.

Acts as a liaison between Business Operations & field/store management to execute and follow through on required tasks. Serves as the primary business contact and analytical support for Regional Managers, Market Leaders, and Store Management regarding course material status and performance.

The manager demonstrates strong knowledge of Follett systems and strategies (Programs, Academic Tools, System Integrations, etc.) and understands local and campus-specific student and performance trends. They effectively execute company programs and initiatives, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and partner with support teams including Store Operations, Customer Success, AP, HR, and Training.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversees the course materials department for multiple locations and contracts, managing and monitoring inventory lifecycle with decision-making responsibility for assigned stores.
  2. Responsible for report generation, data analysis, and acting as the primary Text Decision Maker to ensure lifecycle tasks are completed in stores.
  3. Evaluates business performance of course materials, including QTC decisions, inventory levels, purchasing, disposition activities, and adherence to sourcing strategies, aligning with budgets and benchmarks. Reviews and directs planning activities like sales period date setting and budget entries for data accuracy.
  4. Collects course materials information from faculty and administration at all locations, including editing, entering, and confirming adoptions, managing manual and automated course import processes, creating new terms, and calculating quantities needed for the school term. Communicates budgets to store management.
  5. In partnership with store management, interacts with faculty, department chairs, Deans, and administration to address course materials issues, resolve escalated issues, and contribute to strategy and goal development.
  6. Conducts seasonal in-store visits for operational review and support.
  7. Provides feedback and maintains consistent communication with Regional Managers, Store Managers, and campus partners on department metrics, rush preparedness, and resource needs.
Qualifications
