UC Berkeley Extension is seeking a part-time course developer to create professional continuing education online courses within the Editing pathway. All work is performed remotely from the United States, and visa sponsorship is not available at hire.
Collaborate with the Arts and Humanities team to design modules, learning objectives, media, and assessments for multiple topics. Start is August 2026; typical project durations are 4–6 months, with compensation of about $6,000 per course.
Salary range: $6,000 per online course development project.
Percent time: Part‑time by agreement on a project‐by‑project basis.
Anticipated start: Position is expected to begin in August 2026.
Review timeline: Review of applications begins immediately and will continue as needed.
Position duration: Projects typically range from approximately 4 to 6 months. Project length may vary depending on credits, modules, subject, and level. Further agreements may be assigned based on program needs, meritorious performance, and funding availability.

UC Berkeley Extension (UNEX), the continuing education branch of the University of California, Berkeley, has been building bridges between UC Berkeley and the public since 1891. UNEX serves the professional and continuing education goals of thousands of people each year and plays an essential part of the University mission to: extend the research and scholarship of UC Berkeley to a global community; increase access to higher education for non‑traditional, online, and international students; and improve the workforce. UC Berkeley Extension is a part of the division under the leadership of the Dean of Extended Education that also includes Berkeley Summer Sessions, Berkeley Study Abroad, and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
Course developers will serve as subject matter experts and develop one or more professional continuing education online courses for our Professional Sequence in Editing within our Arts and Humanities department.
All duties are performed remotely. All work must be performed in the United States, whether in person or online. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
For each course module, develop and provide original raw content for the following common elements:
Produce course media with direction and collaboration from the academic department:
Meet weekly or biweekly (twice a month) with the Academic Department over Zoom.
Review completed course content within LMS and provide content quality assurance including media content.
