Job summary

Austin Regional Clinic in Austin, TX is seeking a Courier on a PRN, as-needed basis. You will provide efficient pick-up and delivery services across locations, ensuring temperature-controlled handling of vaccines and lab specimens, while maintaining confidentiality and safety policies.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, customer service experience, and a valid Texas driver’s license. Preferred are 2+ years of business driving experience, ability to lift up to 75 lbs, and strong

• Preferred: Two (2) or more years of experience operating vehicles for business purposes.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver items including vaccines, mail, supplies, lab specimens, and bank deposits to/from assigned locations on schedule.
• Drive defined pick-up and delivery routes and maintain the vaccines at proper temperatures; document deliveries.
• Ensure bank deposits are signed for upon pick-up and delivered per policy; present driver’s license if required.
• Follow traffic laws and safety procedures; maintain on-time delivery.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality; support company policies (OSHA, HIPAA).
• Participate in Central Distribution cross-training and route coverage; support cost-saving measures.
• Assist in filling requisitions; check in deliveries; answer calls as needed.

PURPOSE

Couriers provide an efficient pick-up and delivery service and support to customers, while complying with all operational, security, and safety policies and procedures with the objective of meeting service commitments and maximizing customer satisfaction. Couriers are a critical component of providing customer service throughout the organization. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for picking up and delivering items, including but not limited to: vaccines, mail, supplies, lab specimens and bank deposits, to and from assigned locations in a timely manner.
• Drives a defined pick-up and delivery route as scheduled and at the times specified on the Courier Schedule.
• Responsible for ensuring that vaccine and lab deliveries are kept in coolers at the proper temperature and must document delivery of vaccines.
• Responsible for ensuring bank deposits are signed for upon pick-up and delivered to bank in accordance with the company’s policy and defined schedule. Follows bank protocol, which may include presenting driver’s license for deposit.
• Obeys all traffic laws and follows safe traffic and transportation procedures.
• Maintains on-time delivery schedule while handling occasional STAT requests.
• Maintains professionalism in all interactions including in use of language, attire, and demeanor.
• Maintains cleanliness and order in work area.
• Maintains cleanliness in company vehicles.
• Handles routine maintenance of the organization’s vehicles including oil changes, tire rotations, etc., per manufacturer’s specifications.
• Notifies supervisor of vehicle repair needs.
• Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
• Regular and dependable attendance.
• Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on CMSweb.

Other Duties And Responsibilities

• Participates actively as part of the Central Distribution team including cross-training and providing cross coverage on all routes, identifying potential efficiencies, implementing cost-saving strategies, and improving service.
• Assists in filling requisitions as requested by supervisor.
• Checks in deliveries as needed.
• Answers phone calls as requested and takes messages as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Customer service experience. Experience operating a vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions.

Preferred: Two (2) or more years of experience operating vehicles for business purposes.
