Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a part-time driver to pick up and deliver laboratory specimens and supplies across the city and surrounding areas. You will review specimen requests for accuracy and assist with sorting client reports and deliveries by type and department.

The role requires a valid Indiana driver’s license, good driving history, ability to lift 50–75 pounds, and the stamina to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods. Weekend availability is essential.

Qualifications

• Requires HS grad or GED equivalent.
• Requires valid Indiana Operator's license and a good driving history.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50–75 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods.
• May cover routes during the week if available.

Responsibilities

• Drives throughout the city and surrounding areas ensuring timely pickup and delivery of laboratory specimens, supplies and other items to and from the Hospital.
• Reviews the client's specimen request information for accuracy and proper packaging.
• Assists with sorting of client reports and deliveries by specimen type and department.
• Maintains a daily activity record of trips, destinations, times and requests.
• Adheres to traffic laws and safety standards while transporting materials.

Overview

Saturdays and Sundays, 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Assists with sorting of deliveries according to specimen type and department required. • Safely transport medical specimens and biohazard materials in accordance with all applicable regulations and guidelines.
• Follow established procedures for packaging, labeling, and handling of materials to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicle to prevent contamination and ensure safe transport.
• Complete required documentation and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with team members and clients to coordinate deliveries and pick-ups.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations to always ensure safe driving practices.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 to 75 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods of time.
• Ability to cover routes during the week if available.
