Job summary

Columbus Regional Health is seeking a Lab Courier to handle routine specimen deliveries from clinics, nursing homes, and physician offices to the lab on a fixed schedule. Deliveries to Indianapolis occur throughout the week and weekend as part of a PRN role.

The position involves up to 95% time driving, with remaining time spent in offices and hospital areas assisting with orders during the route. A high school diploma or GED and a valid Indiana driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Indiana driver’s license and meet hospital liability insurance requirements.
• One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver laboratory specimens from clinics, nursing homes, and physician offices to the laboratory according to a fixed schedule.
• Operate a vehicle up to 95% of the time; assist offices and fill orders during routes; participate in delivering orders to the hospital as needed.

What you need to know about this position:

• The Lab Courier is a member of the laboratory team who is responsible for laboratory specimen deliveries from Clinics, Nursing Homes, and Physician Offices to the laboratory with a fixed, pre-arranged time schedule. Specimen deliveries to Indianapolis throughout the week and weekend is expected.
• The Lab Courier’s time is spent up to 95% operating a vehicle. The remaining time will be spent going into offices and the hospital, multiple times a day, and help fill orders for offices, and deliver them during the route.
• The Lab Courier’s position has a base hourly rate of $16.73. Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience and does include shift differentials and premium pay as applicable.
• This PRN position will require you to work a shift ofvariable shifts and is not benefit eligible but offers a premium for hours worked, and the scheduled hours depend on the needs of the department .
