Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA seeks Full-time Flex Houseparents (couples) to live in on-campus homes and supervise a group of 8–13 students. The role evolves from nine days on/three off to a placed houseparent with the same students, providing guidance, care and supervision in a structured environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, at least two years married, 27+ years old for both spouses, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years.
• Both spouses must be age 27 or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty.
• Pet restrictions: fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision and mentorship to students.
• Manage household routines and student schedules.
• Administer medications and monitor student wellness.
• Drive students to activities and plan development and recreational activities.
• Lead daily devotions and accompany students to Sunday Chapel.
• Oversee budgeting and household reporting.
• Follow nine days on duty, then three days off; transition to placed houseparent with the same group.
