Annual Pay Range: $113,297.70 - $152,951.43
Hourly PayRange: $54.470049 - $73.534341
This position is employed "at-will" under an employment contract with the County Administrator. Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

The Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development is seeking a motivated, experienced, and collaborative leader to join our Surveyor and Public Land Corner (PLC) teams as the County Surveyor. The County Surveyor exercises direct supervision over the Surveyor and PLC programs, and is an appointed position that reports to the Assistant Director of Transportation and Development.
If selected for this position, your main focus will be supervising and overseeing the teams performing the surveying, recording and plat review activities of the County Surveyor's Program. Your work will also include administration, management and maintenance of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS).
This is a unique opportunity to provide highly skilled technical expertise and leadership for a high-functioning team that services the residents and developers working in incorporated and unincorporated Clackamas County.

This is a "hands on" supervisory role with the County Surveyor leading professional, technical and administrative staff. This is a dynamic program, and the County Surveyor will also be analyzing programs and services to identify alternative strategies and develop a solution-focused approach to address challenges or issues.
This position will allow you to work in a large and geographically diverse environment, including urban and rural lands, resort communities, small rural communities and large tracts of agricultural and forest lands. The County’s significant landforms include seven major rivers and the serene backdrop and outdoor activities that Mt. Hood offers.

This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.
Please Note: This position is eligible for hybrid on-site/telework subject to the Clackamas County Teleworking Policy and based on the Department’s business needs. The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager during time of offer. Telework locations cannot be located outside of Oregon or Washington. Washington residents must perform 50% of their time on-site at Clackamas County.

The mission of the Department of Transportation and Development (DTD)is to assist residentsand businesses in creating vibrant, sustainable communities through innovative and responsive public service.
DTD is responsible for a broad range of county services involving land use planning and permitting, building permits, county code enforcement, solid waste and recycling, road construction and maintenance, surveying, plat approvals, public land corner restoration, economic development, libraries, County parks, and dog services.
The County Surveyor’s Program conducts a variety of professional surveying activities for incorporated and unincorporated Clackamas County including maintaining public records, restoring and referencing Public Land Corners (PLSS) monuments, reviewing and approving new subdivision, partition and condominium plats and providing technical and professional assistance to the public.
