Job summary

Benton County Government is seeking a qualified financial professional to assist the Comptroller in developing the County Budget and maintaining the countywide accounting system. In the Comptroller's absence, the incumbent assumes all accounting responsibilities of the office.

The role includes supervising accounting staff, ensuring accurate bill payments, budget monitoring, and supporting audits and vendor management. A bachelor's degree and 3+ years in financial management are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum three years in Financial Management and accounting supervisory roles.
• Solid data processing and computer skills with spreadsheets and word processing.

Responsibilities

• Assist comptroller in maintaining countywide general accounting system, general ledger and budget.
• Oversee billing, coding and budget monitoring; provide financial analyses and documentation.
• Lead annual Budget Process and prepare data for Finance Committee and Quorum Court.
• Coordinate and support annual state audits with auditors and comptroller.
• Direct Purchasing functions, negotiate contracts, analyze vendors and savings.
• Oversee purchasing process, PO/invoicing/claims accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Assist elected officials and department heads with purchasing requests and data.
• Supervise payroll coordinator and improve internal controls with HR.
