Job summary

Berkeley County Government in South Carolina seeks an Engineering Director to lead the Engineering Department, oversee daily operations, staff supervision and budgeting, and collaborate with citizens and other agencies.

The role directs road projects, reviews development plans, manages consultants, coordinates with Legal on land matters, and reports to County leadership. A PE license, ABET degree, and substantial management experience are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from ABET-accredited program.
Eight or more years in engineering program management.
Six or more years of supervisory experience.
Professional Engineer license in South Carolina.

Responsibilities

Directs daily operations of the Engineering Department, sets priorities and deadlines.
Oversees budget preparation and consultant contracts.
Reviews site development plans for commercial/industrial projects.
Coordinates with Legal to determine land ownership and rights of way.
Provides technical assistance and oversees training for engineering staff.
Directs Stormwater Management Department and presents to County Council.
