Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Wayne County Human Services, Children & Youth Agency in Honesdale, PA, is seeking a County Caseworker 2 for the Intake Screening Unit. The role involves interviewing clients, assessing safety needs, developing service plans, and coordinating supports for at-risk children and families.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as County Caseworker 1, or
• Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program, or
• Bachelor's degree with a social welfare major, or
• Bachelor's degree with 12 related credits and one year of casework experience, or
• Any equivalent combination including 12 credits in sociology/social welfare/psychology

This role centers on supporting children and families by assessing safety needs and connecting them with appropriate services. It involves interviewing clients, preparing documentation, and working with families and professionals. As a County Caseworker 2 in the Intake Screening Unit, you will perform the following duties:

• Conduct Interviews: Interview clients, families, and collateral contacts to identify barriers that affect child safety and well being
• Assess Needs: Evaluate eligibility for services and determine the supports families require
• Develop Plans: Create family service plans, make referrals, and manage an active caseload
• Maintain Records: Keep organized, accurate case files and documentation
• Support Families: Provide supervised counseling and assist with protective services for children
• Prepare Reports: Complete assessments, home studies, reports, and court testimony as needed

The position includes fieldwork involving home visits, travel within and outside the county, transporting children and families in county vehicles, and occasional overnight travel. Requires managing multiple priorities, meeting strict deadlines, working nontraditional and on-call hours, and responding to child abuse and neglect cases to ensure child safety.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
• Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • On-call 24/7 on a rotating basis.Irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements

• Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
• Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
• A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
• A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation.
