  • A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major
  • A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

As a County Caseworker 2 with the Department of Human Services, Washington County Child Welfare Services, you will help families navigate challenges and access important resources. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides social and case management services that help children, youth, and families strengthen their social, emotional, and physical well-being. The work supports families by gathering important information, offering guidance, and connecting them to helpful resources. As a County Caseworker 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Case Management: Provide a full range of social and case management services to support children, youth, and families
  • Information Gathering: Obtain essential background details to understand family needs and inform service plans
  • Client Counseling: Offer guidance to clients and their families to assist them in improving overall functioning
  • Resource Coordination: Help families access available supports that promote emotional and physical adjustment
  • Training Completion: Perform duties under supervision during probation and complete required classroom and field instruction
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • This position includes working evening and weekend hours, as well as performing on-call duties.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
