Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a Security Officer to patrol County properties and perform regulatory duties to safeguard facilities. The role requires Texas security certification, a valid Texas driver’s license, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

The officer will respond to emergencies, assist with evacuations, and enforce county policies while maintaining safety standards and reporting incidents as required.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED; 15 college hours preferred.
• Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with good driving record.
• Must be 21 or older and meet physical/mental standards; board-certified security training.

Responsibilities

• Performs security duties around County property, controls disturbances, and reports incidents.
• Responds to alarms, emergencies, and coordinates building evacuations when needed.
• Oversees screening and access in Courts buildings and documents issues.
• Reports maintenance needs and coordinates after-hours dispatch for maintenance.
• Enforces county ordinances (smoking, parking, traffic) on County property.
• Secures doors, extinguishes lights, and patrols in all weather conditions.
• Documents lost items and contraband; notifies supervisor of issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
