Rockingham County seeks a County Attorney to provide legal counsel across governance, contracts, procurement, land use and litigation management. This role supports the Department of Community Development and county leadership, advising on compliance and public policy.

The successful candidate will supervise staff, coordinate with outside counsel, and present at Board meetings, shaping legal strategy and safeguarding public interests for Harrisonburg and the Rockingham County community.

Competenze

• Provides legal counsel across governance, contracts, procurement, land use, zoning enforcement, litigation management, public records, employment matters, tax enforcement, real estate transactions, and legislative monitoring.
• Supports the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Department of Social Services as legal counsel.
• Requires regular attendance at Board meetings and coordination with County leadership.

Mansioni

• Oversees litigation, coordinates with outside counsel for specialized areas such as bond matters, labor and employment, construction law, and annexation defense.
• Responds to inquiries from residents and provides training to elected officials, staff, and board/commission members.
• Ensures compliance with FOIA, COIA, and Virginia Public Records Act; acts as liaison with insurance counsel.
• Supervises eight employees including seven full-time and one part-time Administrative Assistant.
