Bodega Taqueria Y Tequila is seeking a dynamic and experienced Counter Server to join our team. As a Counter Server, you will serve food and beverage items to customers in a friendly, enthusiastic, professional, and timely manner from our Taqueria Airstream. You will provide friendly, courteous, and efficient service to ensure guests have an optimal experience. Additionally, you will support the packaging and delivery of online and take-out orders. This position requires a passion for hospitality and attention to detail. The individual reports to the General Manager or Assistant General Manager in their absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a positive work environment, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff and team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate customer feedback, concerns, and special requests to the team and management.
- Assist with restocking supplies and maintaining inventory levels.
- Partner with third-party contacts to ensure timely receipt of packaged orders.
- Collaborate with management on special events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
Quality Control
- Maintain stock of consumables and product inventory, including coolers and storage areas.
- Monitor ingredient levels and inform kitchen staff of any issues.
- Address beverage quality concerns promptly.
- Develop knowledge of beverages, ingredients, and preparation techniques.
Operations Support
- Familiarize with menu items, specials, and promotions to upsell effectively.
- Suggest additional menu items to enhance customer orders.
- Perform setup duties and prepare menu items according to recipes and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation areas.
- Adhere to health and safety standards during cleaning and food handling.
Customer Service
- Ensure responsible alcohol service, avoiding serving minors or intoxicated persons.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere and engage with guests.
- Communicate effectively and respond to guest requests.
- Maintain composure during busy times and emergencies.
- Work closely with all departments to uphold guest service standards.
Compliance and Safety
- Follow health, safety, and internal policies and procedures.
- Practice proper storage, handling, and preparation of food and alcohol.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service laws are followed.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous customer service or food service experience preferred.
- Basic math and cash handling skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Professional integrity and ability to work safely and efficiently.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
