Job summary

Atlas Welding Supply is seeking a Counter Sales & Warehouse Support Associate in Tuscaloosa, AL. You will greet customers, help select welding and gas products, and process sales with accuracy.

The role combines retail service with warehouse duties in a growing gas and welding supplies company. Ideal candidates have excellent customer service, basic welding knowledge, and the ability to operate a forklift or become certified.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Proficiency with personal computers and MS Office apps (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Minimum one year of retail, customer service, or sales experience.
• Welding experience or working knowledge of welding products and equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Forklift operation or willingness to become certified.
• Flexibility for overtime and occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and professionally, delivering exceptional service.
• Assist with product selection and recommend welding, industrial, and gas items.
• Answer inquiries in person and by phone; create invoices and process sales orders.
• Handle payments and enter transactions into POS systems accurately.
• Stock, organize, and replenish inventory in warehouse and retail areas.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
• Support inventory counts and branch operations through teamwork.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Minimum one (1) year of retail store, customer service, or sales experience.
• Welding experience or working knowledge of welding products and equipment.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and move products weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift or willingness to become forklift certified.
• Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed.

Essential duties/responsibilities:

• Greet customers promptly and professionally, providing exceptional customer service.
• Assist customers with product selection and recommend appropriate welding, industrial, and gas-related products.
• Answer customer inquiries in person and over the phone.
• Create invoices, process sales orders, and accurately enter transactions into point-of-sale systems.
• Receive and process customer payments.
• Maintain accurate records and complete required paperwork and documentation.
• Pull, stage, and load products for customer purchases and deliveries.
• Receive, stock, organize, and replenish inventory throughout the warehouse and retail areas.
• Keep retail, warehouse, and counter areas clean, organized, and presentable.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Assist with inventory counts and inventory control activities.
• Follow all Atlas safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and team members.
• Support branch operations through teamwork and cross-functional assistance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
