The role supports daily branch operations, restocking, and strong customer relationships. A high school diploma and customer service/sales experience are preferred; forklift certification is a plus. This is a union position with comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

Position: Counter Sales Representative (Union) – Southampton, NY

Summary: The Counter Sales Representative Union is a vital customer service resource, providing prompt assistance, processing orders and maintaining the sales floor. The role supports branch operations, restocking, and customer relationship building.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers with purchases, returns, and order processing while delivering excellent service.
• Drive sales for the counter business and cultivate new and existing customer relationships.
• Maintain up‑to‑date product knowledge.
• Alert management to safety or customer satisfaction hazards.
• Restock, clean, and organize the showroom and counter area.
• Perform additional branch duties as needed, including inside sales, order preparation, receiving, stocking, staging, shipping, and equipment maintenance.
• Execute other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Customer service, sales, or electrical distribution experience preferred.
• Previous branch experience preferred.
• Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong negotiation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Team‑player, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
• Basic computer literacy and typing ability.
• Positive attitude and desire to improve product knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Electrical product knowledge (lighting, switchgear, controls, commodities) preferred.
• Experience in electrical distribution or sales environments preferred.
• Familiarity with automated order entry systems and Windows‑based PC software preferred.
