Job summary

Hog Slat, Incorporated, the world’s leading provider of parts and equipment to swine & poultry industries, is seeking a Counter Sales Representative for our Biscoe, NC retail location.

You will assist customers in-store and by phone, recommend parts, and educate on products and promotions. The role requires knowledge of farming industry, customer service experience, and ability to lift 50 lbs and operate a forklift after certification.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the farming industry and hog operations is preferred.
• Experience in customer service is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude is required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate a forklift after certification.
• Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office; ability to learn inventory software quickly.

Responsibilities

• Assist retail customers in-store and by phone to understand their needs.
• Recommend parts and equipment to address customer needs.
• Educate customers on new products and promotions and Hog Slat Grower Select products.
• Operate office equipment, process cash transactions, and use computer systems.
• Assist with inventory management, unloading stock, shelving, and cycle counts.
• Maintain a clean and orderly store with the team.
• Arrive on time for scheduled store hours.
• Engage in training opportunities offered by the Company and vendors.
• Continue to upgrade industry knowledge.

Counter Sales Representative

Hog Slat, Incorporated, the world’s leading provider of parts, equipment and turn‑key construction to the swine & poultry industries is seeking a candidate with previous hog farming industry experience and excellent customer service skills to join the team at our Biscoe, NC retail location.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with retail customers, both in‑store and over the phone, to understand their needs
• Recommend to customers the best parts & equipment available to address their needs
• Educate customers on new products and special promotions as well as promote Hog Slat and Grower Select products
• Properly operate office equipment, handle cash transactions, and efficiently utilize computer operating systems
• Assist with inventory management including unloading the stock truck with a forklift, shelving product, and performing cycle counts
• Join the rest of the store team members in the tasks required to maintain a clean and orderly store
• Arrive at the store on‑time and ready to work for all scheduled store hours
• Take advantage of training opportunities offered by the Company and by our vendors
• Continually upgrade industry knowledge

Skills / Knowledge Required

• Knowledge of the farming industry
• Knowledge of parts and equipment used in modern hog operations is strongly preferred
• Previous customer service experience is strongly preferred
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
• Ability to lift and move 50 lbs.
• Willing and able to obtain forklift certification and use a forklift regularly
• Understanding of the use of E‑Mail and Microsoft Office products in daily tasks
• Ability to quickly learn inventory management software
• Must possess a valid driver license
• At least 1 year working in a modern hog farming operation (preferred)
• Familiarity with the local hog industry and the hog producers in the area will be considered a plus
