Job summary

Airgas in Monroe, NC seeks a Counter Sales/Backup CDL Driver to support retail shop operations and grow customer relationships. You will sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment while assisting customers in person and remotely.

The role includes operating forklifts, loading/unloading cylinders, and serving as backup driver as needed, with a focus on safety, accurate paperwork, and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B drivers license is required.
• Hazmat endorsement or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers required.
• Minimum age 21 with at least one year of Class A driving experience in last five years.
• Must pass Airgas background and motor vehicle checks.

Responsibilities

• Handle accounts receivable, discuss past-due accounts, and ensure accurate paperwork (coding, costing, pricing).

Responsibilities

• Sales & Business Development: Sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment; solicit sales from new and existing customers.
• Customer Support: Assist customers via email, telephone, and walk‑in visits; provide guidance on equipment usage and material requirements.
• Operations & Logistics: Manage the loading and unloading of cylinders, operate forklifts, and serve as a backup driver when necessary.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain appropriate hard‑goods and cylinder levels to prevent supply emergencies.
• Administrative & Financial: Manage accounts receivable, discuss past‑due accounts, collect payments, and ensure all paperwork—coding, costing, and pricing—is completed accurately.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B Driver’s License.
• Valid Medical Examiner’s Card.
• Hazmat Endorsement or ability to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
• Minimum age 21.
• One year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five years.
• Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers required.
• Ability to lift or move 25–75 lbs routinely, and occasionally lift 76–>100 lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Maintain a drug‑free workplace.
• Adherence to safety regulations and policies.
• Flexible to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift Experience.
• Touch freight delivery experience.
