Rocky Mountain Building Solutions is seeking a Paint Store Counter Representative to assist both retail and commercial customers. You will excel at color matching and provide high‑quality service while handling tinting, sales, and inventory tasks.

The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50–60 lbs, and delivering accurate color guidance to customers, with occasional driver deliveries using a valid license.

A Paint Store Counter Representative serves as the primary point of contact for both retail and commercial customers, balancing technical expertise in color matching with high-quality service.

Core Responsibilities

• Customer Assistance: Greet walk-in customers, answer phone inquiries, and provide expert advice on paint and stain types, finishes, and application techniques for various projects.
• Paint Mixing & Tinting: Operate computerized tinting machines to mix paint and stain according to standard or custom formulas.
• Color Matching: Use spectrophotometers or manual visual comparisons to accurately match paint colors from customer samples.
• Sales Transactions: Process orders, returns, and exchanges using a Point of Sale (POS) system, ensuring accurate cash and credit handling.
• Inventory Support: Receive and stock incoming freight, perform cycle counts, and maintain organized, clean product displays.
• Contractor Support: Assist professional contractors with high-volume orders, technical inquiries, and order tracking.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: Previous retail, customer service, or paint/coatings industry experience is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Ability to use computers, inventory scanners, and basic mathematical calculations for retail transactions.
• Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for long periods and frequently lift or carry items weighing up to 50–60 lbs., such as 5-gallon paint buckets.
• Visual Acuity: Must have the ability to distinguish between colors for precise color matching.
• Driving: A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required for occasional customer deliveries.

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-time position, non-exempt position
  • Overtime available and/or required based on seasonality of the business
• $21 - $26 per hour – commensurate with experience
• Simple IRA Retirement upon 1 year of employment
