JOBBERS AUTOMOTIVE WHSE INC is seeking a Parts Counterperson to help customers identify, source, and purchase automotive parts. You’ll interact with retail and professional customers, process sales, and support store operations at the counter.

You will build trust, maintain accuracy in parts selection, and stay updated on vendor changes, pricing, and product availability while promoting related items and ensuring a clean, professional counter area.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly in person or by phone and provide help.
• Assist customers in identifying correct parts using catalogs.
• Provide accurate pricing, availability, and recommendations.
• Process sales transactions accurately through the POS system.
• Promote related or complementary products when appropriate.
• Resolve basic issues, returns, and warranty inquiries per policy.
• Maintain knowledge of automotive parts and terminology.

Job description

The Parts Counterperson is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by accurately identifying, sourcing, and selling automotive parts and related products. This role serves both retail and professional customers, supports store operations, and contributes to sales growth, accuracy, and efficiency at the counter.

The Counterperson is often the first point of contact with customers and plays a critical role in building trust, maintaining repeat business, and representing the company’s commitment to service and professionalism.

• Greet customers promptly and professionally, both in person and by phone
• Assist customers in identifying correct parts using electronic catalogs and reference tools
• Provide accurate pricing, availability, and product recommendations
• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently through the POS system
• Promote related or complementary products when appropriate (add-on sales)
• Resolve basic customer issues, returns, and warranty inquiries in accordance with company policy

Parts Knowledge & Accuracy

• Maintain working knowledge of automotive parts, applications, and terminology
• Ensure accuracy in part selection to minimize returns and errors
• Verify part numbers, quantities, and specifications before completing transactions
• Stay current on new products, vendor changes, and pricing updates

Store Operations Support

• Assist with stocking, labeling, and organizing inventory
• Help maintain clean, orderly, and professional counter and sales floor areas
• Participate in cycle counts, inventory checks, and merchandising efforts
• Assist with receiving, checking in, and putting away freight as needed

Communication & Teamwork

• Communicate clearly with customers, coworkers, and management
• Work cooperatively with delivery drivers, warehouse staff, and sales personnel
• Escalate complex issues or customer concerns to management when appropriate
