Job summary

Boyd Gaming Corporation is seeking a Count Room Lead to drive currency counting integrity and regulatory compliance across multiple departments on site in Ohio. The incumbent will hire, train, and manage Count Room staff, ensure secure handling of large currency flows, and coordinate with Cage, Security, and Finance to maintain accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and train Count Room staff and ensure currency accuracy.

• Coordinate with Cage, Players Club, Revenue Audit, Security, Gaming, Surveillance and Compliance.
• Schedule Count Room personnel per approved drop schedule and business needs.
• Ensure SOP adherence on gaming floor and Count Room.
• Transfer receipts to Players Club and accounting documents daily.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate with Surveillance/Finance as needed.
• Operate with relevant hardware and software and manage budget within the department.

Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for participating and leading the activities of the Count Room to ensure the integrity of currency counting derived from the VLT games, as well as ensuring compliance with Gaming regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position

• Interviews, hires, and must effectively train Countroom staff. Ability to welcome, engage, and develop a team is essential to the success of this role.
• Maintains protection of extremely large amounts of currency, ensuring prevention of loss by providing extreme care and attention to detail.
• Must understand and adhere to Ohio Lottery Commission (OLC) rules and regulations surrounding Video Lottery Terminals (VLT) and Countroom procedures.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with multiple areas across the property including the Cage & Players Club, Revenue Audit, Security, Gaming, Surveillance and Compliance.
• Schedules Count Room personnel to correspond with the OLC approved drop schedule and business demands.
• Ensures compliance both on the gaming floor and in the Countroom to ensure that team members are following the departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Transfers receipts to the Players Club and the corresponding documentation to the Accounting Department daily
• Must be able to independently problem solve as issues arise while simultaneously communicating issues to Surveillance, Finance and Security when needed.
• Able to work with several technical pieces of equipment and computer programs.
• Operates within the department budget.
• Provides encouragement to team members by communicating property/team goals, identifies areas for new training and conducts team meetings to update team members on continued expectations.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

This knowledge and these abilities are typically acquired through a minimum of three years’ cashiering or banking experience, or related experience.

Ability to maintain all Regulatory licenses within assigned state of employment

Must successfully pass background check

Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of:

• Knowledge of Oasis Gaming system, operation of Cummins currency counting equipment, and 10‑key calculator.
• General computer knowledge is required
• Knowledge of cashiering or banking operations

Ability to:

• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and management
• Ability to identify different denominations of currency and quickly count and stock currency
• Ability to bend, squat, reach and twist so as to be able to retrieve full and empty coin boxes
• Ability to push/pull the drop cart, with assistance, which can weigh up to 2000 pounds
• Ability to remain standing for majority of shift and make way around the Count Room in an efficient manner
• Ability to diagnose common equipment and computer issues.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
