CHC is seeking a Counselor for its Women’s Recovery program in the Akron area. The role involves direct service delivery to patients through group and individual counseling, with a focus on gender-specific, trauma-informed care.
Minimum requirements include a Master’s Degree in Counseling or related field and an active PCC-S/LISW-S or LICDC-CS license in Ohio. Duties include assessments, treatment planning, case documentation, discharge planning, and participation in supervision.
CHC is a non-profit social service agency in the Akron area whose mission is to treat, inspire, support and empower individuals and families impacted by the disease of addiction. CHC has been a critical part of Ohio’s efforts to treat and prevent substance use disorders since 1974.
We are currently looking for a Counselor for our Women’s Recovery program. The Counselor provides direct service to patients through both group and individual counseling.
Provide gender specific, trauma informed therapeutic counseling for individual clients which includes individual and group counseling; Interview patients and coordinate assessment; summarize and evaluate problems areas and patient strengths; Develop treatment plans; complete appropriate case recording requirements per agency procedure; Provide patient access to individualized treatment; Monitor and facilitate progress through treatment, modify treatment as needed and inform patient of alternate treatment procedures that are available; Participate and present patient cases weekly in clinical supervision meetings and seek additional professional consultation as needed; Prepare discharge summary and aftercare planning according to agency procedure.
Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology or related field. Must have a current license from the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board as a PCC-S or LISW-S or the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professional Board as an LICDC-CS. Should have knowledge of and experience with managerial operations, including having strong skills in leadership, supervision, communication and employee development.
