Job summary

Stone River Recovery Center in San Antonio, Texas seeks a Counselor I (PRN) to support clients in recovery from addictions and related issues, participate in treatment planning, and provide counseling under supervision.

This role emphasizes crisis intervention, family education, aftercare planning, and coordination with insurance carriers, referrals, and community resources to ensure individualized quality care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social or health services field is required.
• Licensure or certification for counseling as required by the state; eligible within the facility's designated timeframe.
• CPR and de-escalation certification required.
• Experience in counseling field instruction/internship or similar practicum through education or certification process required.

Responsibilities

• Participates in client treatment planning and continuum of care.
• Conducts group and/or family sessions, under supervision, and documents as required.
• Co-facilitates sessions and assists with modifying problem behaviors.
• Responsible for initial and follow-up assessments for clients.
• Prepares individual treatment plans for assigned clients.
• Ensures documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is timely and clear.
• Acts as liaison between referral sources and clients.
• Provides crisis intervention to clients as needed.
• Plans for aftercare for assigned clients.
• Liaises with insurance carriers as requested.
• Provides case management for clients to ensure individualized quality care.
• Evaluates client needs and referrals to other programs as needed.
• Provides client and family education on substance abuse/psychiatric issues.
• Conducts educational workshops in-facility and in the community as required.
• Serves as liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.
• Monitors ongoing assessments of services required by the Facility.

The Counselor I provides treatment and support to assist clients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, or other behavioral problems, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of clients.Roles and Responsibilities:· Participates in client treatment planning and continuum of care.· Conducts group and/or family sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and documents as required.· Co-facilitates assigned group or family sessions and assists with modifying problem behaviors.· Responsible for initial assessments, as well as follow up assessments for clients.· Prepares individual treatment plan for each assigned client.· Ensures all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.· Acts as a liaison between referral sources and clients.· Provides crisis intervention to clients, as needed.· Plans for aftercare for assigned clients.· Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested.· Provides case management duties for clients, ensuring individualized quality care.· Evaluates the need of the client and determines if referrals to other programs or facilities is needed.· Provides client and family education relative to substance abuse/psychiatric problems.· Conducts educational workshops both within the Facility and in the community as required.· Serves as a liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.· Conducts ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the Facility treatment programs.· Bachelor's degree in social or health services field required.· Experience in counseling field instruction/internship or similar practicum through education or certification process required.· Licensure or certification for counseling, as required by the state in which the facility operates; OR state license or certification eligible within the timeframe designated by the facility.· CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).· First aid may be required based on state or facilityWhy Stone River Recovery Center?Stone River Recovery Center offers a comprehensive benefit plan and a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
