Job summary

Summit BHC is hiring a Counselor I for the Stone River Recovery Center in San Antonio, TX. The part-time role offers direct patient counseling, treatment planning, and crisis intervention within an addiction treatment setting.

You will conduct group and family sessions, document care, and coordinate with referrals and insurers while supporting aftercare planning for patients and their families.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience in counseling field instruction or practicum through education or certification.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required; first aid may be required.
• Licensure or certification for counseling may be required by the state.

Responsibilities

• Participates in patient treatment planning and continuum of care.
• Conducts group and/or family sessions under supervision and documents as required.
• Co-facilitates sessions and assists with modifying problem behaviors.
• Performs initial and follow-up assessments and prepares treatment plans.
• Acts as liaison between referral sources and patients; coordinates with insurance carriers.
• Provides crisis intervention and plans for aftercare; conducts ongoing assessments.

Counselor-PRN page is loaded## Counselor-PRNlocations: Stone River Recovery Centertime type: Part timeposted on: Posted Yesterdayjob requisition id: JR126454Counselor-PRN | Stone River Recovery Center | San Antonio, Texas**About the Job:**PURPOSE STATEMENT:The Counselor I provides treatment and support to assist patients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, or other behavioral problems, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of clients.**Roles and Responsibilities:**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:· Participates in patient treatment planning and continuum of care.· Conducts group and/or family sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and documents as required.· Co-facilitates assigned group or family sessions and assists with modifying problem behaviors.· Responsible for initial assessments, as well as follow up assessments for patients.· Prepares individual treatment plan for each assigned patient.· Ensures all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.· Acts as a liaison between referral sources and patients.· Provides crisis intervention to patients, as needed.· Plans for aftercare for assigned patients.· Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested.· Provides case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care.· Evaluates the need of the patient and determines if referrals to other programs or facilities is needed.· Provides patient and family education relative to substance use disorder/psychiatric problems.· Conducts educational workshops both within the Hospital and in the community as required.· Serves as a liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.· Conducts ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the Hospital treatment programs.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:· High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in social or health services field preferred.· Experience in counseling field instruction/internship or similar practicum through education or certification process required.LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:· Licensure or certification for counseling, as required by the state in which the facility operates; OR state license or certification eligible within the timeframe designated by the facility.· CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).· First aid may be required based on state or facility.SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:This position is an Individual Contributor.Veterans and military spouses are highly encouraged to apply.
