Role and Responsibilities

The Clinician I is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care activities as directed by the Clinical Director. Responsibilities include managing a patient caseload and providing group, individual, and family therapy. Conduct psychosocial and bio-psychosocial assessments, collaborate with the Treatment Team to formulate the Master Treatment Plan, and assist in coordinating discharge planning. Primary responsibility includes maintaining communication with the family, referral source, and other service providers as needed.

  • Provide excellent individual, family, and group therapy to assigned patients following program curriculum provided by Clinical Director
  • Complete and ensure appropriate sign-off of all required documentation in compliance with company policies, state regulations, Joint Commission standards, and Medical Needs Criteria, including:
    • Biopsychosocial Assessment and Integrated Summary (72 hours)
    • Comprehensive Problem List
    • Integrated Master Treatment Plan and Updates (24-72 hours based on payer)
    • ASAMs (24 hours, based on state standards)
    • Individual, family, and group therapy session notes (24 hours)
    • Discharge Summary (72 hours)
  • Use substance abuse and co-occurring therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques to assist patients in achieving treatment goals and completing treatment
  • Assess patients for substance use disorders, risk to self or others, and co-occurring mental health disorders
  • Apply therapeutic interventions to support treatment plan goals and successful completion
  • Manage aftercare recommendations and support for maintaining recovery
  • Provide group therapy
  • Manage caseload as per state requirements
  • Participate in crisis intervention as needed
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for aftercare planning and resource coordination
  • Complete daily documentation to meet metrics of 92% completion within compliance
Other Required Tasks
  • Attend Daily Flash Meetings in the absence of the Clinical Director or Assistant Clinical Director
  • Maintain positive relationships with all staff
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment plan reviews
  • Maintain healthy boundaries with patients and staff
  • Accept feedback from supervisors
  • Provide a safe and therapeutic environment to all staff and patients
  • Communicate significant patient developments to supervisor
  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities
  • Pursue professional development via education and training programs
  • Contribute to staff morale
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate licensure/certification required; Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, or related human services field preferred

Credentials:

  • Provisionally or Independently Licensed in the state of practice required in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counselor, or other behavioral health field
  • LPCC, LISW, LMFT, LPC, LSW, MFT, CPR and BFA Certification

Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year of work experience in behavioral health field preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in communication and written skills
  • Knowledge of State and Federal confidentiality laws
  • Knowledge of licensing and accreditation standards
  • Proficient in electronic medical records; experience with HeatherAI
  • Proficient in documenting medical standards per ASAM and LOCUS criteria
