Job summary

Pinnacle Treatment Centers is seeking a Counselor Assistant/Intern to support patients under supervision of clinical leadership. You will assist with addressing the causes and effects of addiction and participate in the program’s phase-based counseling plan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher required; CADC in training for non-CADC.
• Enrolled in CADC certification course and in-service training.
• Must progress toward CADC certification with semi-annual review.
• Credential within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries and other documentation per federal/state standards.
• Provide orientation to patients on program objectives, phase requirements, rules and hours of services.
• Assess and place patients according to treatment phases per standards and policies.
• Keep clinical documentation and patient charts up to date.
• Counsel patients in crisis and help them access resources.
• Refer patients to community resources as appropriate.
• Submit monthly/quarterly statistical reports to supervisor.
• Attend team meetings and complete required trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Counselor Assistant/Intern

You will offer patients at Pinnacle Treatment Centers comprehensive psychological therapy directed under supervision of clinical leadership. The role is vital to assisting with addressing the causes and effects of the patient’s addiction.

Pay Range

$18-22/hr depending on experience

Requirements

• High School Diploma/ GED or higher
• Experience in addiction treatment setting preferred
• Substance abuse counselor in training who are not CADC shall:

• Be enrolled in a course leading to certification as a CADC and in‑service training.
• Make satisfactory progress towards certification with such progress reviewed and documented by the facility at least semi‑annually.
• Become credentialed within three (3) years of the date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the completion of patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other essential documentation in accordance with applicable federal and state standards and agency policies and procedures.
• Provide patients with orientation regarding objectives of the program, phase system requirements, rules and regulations, sanctions, hours of services, patient rights, and additional information to help patients adjust to the program.
• Assure each patient is assessed and placed according to the treatment phases in accordance with Federal and State standards and agency policies.
• Assure all clinical documentation and patient charts updated in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Counsel patients in crisis situations by identifying patient resources and coping abilities to help patients cope with and resolve crisis.
• Counsel patients who have refused to comply with specific program requirements to increase patient awareness of consequences of noncompliance.
• Arrange referrals to other agencies and resources in the community when appropriate.
• Perform treatment plan reviews
• Participate in case conferences and case reviews in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Develop and increase knowledge of federal, state, and agency regulations regarding confidentiality, methadone treatment, and substance abuse counseling certification.
• Submit all internal and external correspondence to supervisor for review and approval.
• Complete intakes, facilitate group counseling sessions.
• Collection and testing of urine/swab drug screening following proper chain of custody.
• Secure necessary documentation from patients, when appropriate, to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Submit monthly and quarterly statistical reports to supervisor.
• Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required.
• Other duties as assigned
