Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Assesses clients referred for substance abuse and mental health services for the purposes of treatment plan development.
• Participates in family counseling sessions as a co-facilitator with direct supervision by a Counselor III or Clinical/Program Supervisor.
• Teaches alcohol/drug education classes and provides other educational services.
• Performs case management functions such as maintaining case records and coordinating additional services as needed.
• Provides individual counseling to program clients under the supervision of a Clinical/ Program Supervisor.
• Acts as a group leader/facilitator during group counseling sessions.
• Performs other reasonable and related duties as requested by the immediate supervisor or administrative personnel.
  
  

Minimum Training And Experience

• Requires bachelor's degree in field related to Human Services from an accredited college or university, which include but not limited to: Social Work; Clinical Psychology; Counseling; Rehabilitative Counseling; Counseling Education; Education; Criminal Justice; or Ministry and at least two (2) years full-time experience in mental health or addictions treatment setting or certification as an Addictions Professional (CAP) by the Certification Board for Addiction Professionals of Florida. Requires participation in a staff training program.
• Requires considerable knowledge of addictions treatment and/or mental health treatment including types of programs, various therapeutic methods and techniques, and an understanding of the factors contributing to the development of substance abuse, and/or mental health problems.
