Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Counsels clients, writes treatment plans, and assesses progress.
  • Provides individual counseling and treatment/recovery plan preparation.
  • Facilitates activities of daily living and group sessions in milieu.
  • Provides therapeutic interactions to develop social, cognitive and behavioral skills.
  • Teaches stress management and coping strategies.
  • Manages case work including legal reports and educational assistance.
  • Collaborates with vocational staff to integrate rehab efforts.
  • Coordinates consultations with psychology/psychiatry when needed.
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Supports clients on medications for SUD/mental health conditions.
  • Assists other staff with assessment and treatment planning.
  • Monitors and integrates toxicology data into planning.

MAJOR DUTIES
  • Counsels clients, writes treatment plans, assesses client progress, and recommends needed services such as HIV and vocational counseling referrals, parenting classes, and others to meet clients’ needs
  • Provides individual counseling and treatment/recovery plan preparation, monitoring, and reviewing.
  • Facilitates activities of daily living, community meetings, engagement, and carry out of treatment planning in milieu.
  • Provides therapeutic interactions to foster residents’ social, cognitive and behavioral skill development.
  • Teaches clients how to manage stress and circumstances affecting their lives.
  • Case Management of legal reports, court letters, EAP, and/or educational assistance.
  • Collaborate with Vocational staff to integrate vocational rehabilitation into the overall treatment process.
  • Recommend clients for consultations as appropriate (i.e. psychological or psychiatric).
  • Participates in assessing clients in weekly staff meetings and in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Participates in providing education and support to clients receiving medications for substance use disorder, mental health and co-occurring medical conditions.
  • Assists other clinical staff by providing information necessary to assess clients and collaborate on treatment planning.
  • Obtains, monitors and integrates into treatment planning all toxicology data as directed by the supervisor.
  • Completes in-service and other training.
  • Participates in all meetings as directed by supervisor.
  • Fills in for other Counselors who may be on leave as needed.
  • In Residential programs, conducts room inspections to assure cleanliness and adherence to program rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
RATE

$55,000 - $62,700 / year dep. on experience

Tues/Wed/Thurs 7:00am-2:30pm, Fri/Sat 7:00am -3:30pm

QUALIFICATION - EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field, CASAC-T (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor–Trainee), and a minimum of 1–2 years of relevant experience in substance use disorder treatment required.
  • CASAC is preferred. Candidates hired with a CASAC-T must obtain their full CASAC credential within six (6) months of employment.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment including detoxification and withdrawal symptoms. Must be multi-culturally sensitive to the needs of clients in treatment. Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Word, and Uni/Care. Familiarity with the TC process.
