Title: Licensed Mental Health Professional/School Counselor: Special Education + Signing Bonus

Position Type: Full-time (10-month school year position, renewable each year)

Note: This role is based on a 10-month school year contract aligned with the academic calendar. While there may be opportunities to work during summer school, this is considered above and beyond the standard contract. Please note this structure, especially for licensed professionals, as it may differ from other types of year-round roles and impact the annual salary perspective.

What the Licensed Mental Health Professional/School Counselor does:

  • Working in collaboration with a skilled team of colleagues, the School Counselor provides individual and group counseling to students and develops/implements an individualized therapeutic program (part of the IEP) for each student receiving services. The School Counselor coordinates educational services and counseling services with instructional staff and outside agencies.
  • Develops rapport and communicates with families as needed.
  • Maintains documentation, session notes, billing, and service trackers for each student on their caseload as required and writes quarterly progress reports.
  • Communicates with other staff as appropriate regarding pertinent case issues, informs and coordinates with staff on student's educational treatment team regarding pertinent case issues and provides consultation to staff regarding issues related to counseling and family contact.
  • Serves as a resource for counseling materials and methods to teaching staff.
  • Assists in the development of individualized educational/behavioral programming for some students with their educational treatment team.
  • Assists with staff training as needed.
  • Completes verbal and formal assessments as needed for mental health crisis situations.
Qualifications

What the Counselor/Therapist brings to the team:

Clinical Master’s level OR State license in one of the following areas (Supervision available for those working towards licensure):

  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker
  • Licensed Master Social Worker
  • Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor
  • Licensed Professional Counselor
