Job summary

Behavioral Health Group - BHG is seeking a compassionate Counselor to provide individual and group counseling for individuals recovering from substance use and related disorders, develop treatment plans, and support patients throughout their recovery journey.

You will welcome patients during intake, connect them with community resources, and follow up on referrals while maintaining compliant documentation and an empathetic, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Meet state-level requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) required.

  • Provide individual and group counseling for people recovering from drug use and alcohol disorders.
  • Welcome new and returning patients through intake and orientation.
  • Connect patients with community resources and help them access support.
  • Follow up on referrals and complete required follow-ups.
  • Foster an inclusive environment with dignity, respect, and compassion.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, update, and maintain individualized treatment plans and records.
  • Assess patient information to address social, educational, economic, and vocational needs.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00AM - 2:00PM / Rotating Saturday shift
Pay: $24.00-$26.00/HR + Bonus Structure

Pay varies depending upon credentials*

Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Business or health services or related field preferred.
  • CADC, CADC-I, LCAS or LCAS-A preferred. Must be registered or willing to be with the NCASPPB.

What You’ll Do
Provide Care
  • Build trusting relationships by providing individual and group counseling for people recovering from drug use and alcohol disorders.
  • Welcome new and returning patients by guiding them through the intake and orientation process.
  • Connect patients with community resources and help them access the support they need.
  • Follow up on referrals and perform necessary follow-ups.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where every patient is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulatory agency requirements.
Manage Documentation
  • Develop, update, and maintain individualized treatment plans and accurate patient records
  • Collect and assess information about each patient's social, educational, economic, and vocational needs to provide care.
  • Respond to crisis situations with compassion while completing required documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Meet state-level requirements.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree (or higher).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in behavioral health.
  • Ability to make decisions and use proper judgment with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to deal appropriately with patients and team members in stressful or other undesirable situations and to seek direction from supervisors when necessary.
  • Ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and understanding of human behavior to show potential for rehabilitating drug dependent patients.
  • Knowledge of the substance abuse population, treatment planning, and the field of human social services to work toward the rehabilitation of the patient community.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced clinical environment with period of increased activity.
  • Exposure to patients with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, infectious diseases, and criminal justice involvement.
  • Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping.
  • Alternating between sitting and standing throughout the workday.
  • Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Frequent keyboarding and computer use.
