Brandywine Counseling & Community Services, Inc. is seeking a full-time Counselor for our First Stop DUI Program. The role focuses on providing client-centered counseling services in an outpatient setting to support mental health and substance use recovery.

The counselor will conduct intakes, assessments, and treatment planning, deliver individual/family/group counseling, and document services. Strong communication and independence within a focused team are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of drug and alcohol treatment practices.
• Ability to evaluate and screen clients for appropriate treatment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual, family and group counseling.
• Complete intakes and assessments and recommend education or outpatient treatment.
• Create a treatment plan based on client assessment.
• Document clinical services in the electronic record.
• Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.
• Facilitate groups using curriculum.
• Consult with Clinical Supervisor daily.
• Update DUI tracking system timely with client status.

What You'll Do At BCCS

• Is to deliver quality and competent care to all BCCS clients, to include but not limited to individual, family and group counseling.
• Is responsible for completing all scheduled intakes & assessments and making appropriate recommendation for either education or outpatient treatment.
• Is responsible for creating a treatment plan based on client's assessment.
• Document all clinical services and interventions performed within the clients ‘electronic record.
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Is responsible for facilitating groups using identified curriculum.
• Confer with the Clinical Supervisor on a daily basis for casing.
• Ensures that the DUI tracking system is updated within identified timeline with client status.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of Drug and alcohol treatment clinical practices.
• Knowledge of population being served and available resources.
• Ability to evaluate and screen clients for appropriate treatment and document progress of clients.
• May require crisis intervention to emergency situations.
• Skill in establishing rapport with clients.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a focused team.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Requirements

Qualifications for the position are:

• Minimum of an associate degree with CADC, or bachelor's degree
• REQUIRED : Bachelor's degree in behavioral science or related field
• REQUIRED : 1 year experience in the Substance Abuse Field and/or Mental Health
• Within 2 years, must have obtained certification as CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor).

Schedule

• Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• One late shift during the week of 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
• Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Salary

• Starting at $21/hour
• Commensurate with experience, education, and certification!
