Residential Counselor Positions – Columbia‑Greene Counties

The Mental Health Association of Columbia‑Greene Counties Inc. is looking to fill several Residential Counselor roles within the Residential Division. The positions include:

• Residential Counselor – Columbia Street Apartments (900 Columbia St., Hudson, NY 12534) – 1 part‑time position, $20.00 per hour, 20 hours per week, Saturday 4pm–8pm and Sunday 8am–12am.
• Residential Counselor – Hudson Community Apartments (8 Green Acres Rd., Hudson, NY 12534) – 1 full‑time position, $20.00 per hour, 40 hours per week, Friday and Saturday nights 8pm‑8am and Monday and Tuesday 10am‑6pm.
• Residential Counselor – High Cliff Terrace (30 High Cliff Terrace, Catskill, NY 12414) – 1 full‑time position, $20.00 per hour, 40 hours per week, evenings and weekends (schedule to be determined); 1 part‑time position, $20.00 per hour, 16 hours per week on the weekends.

Additional positions at the suite locations are available and various schedules are offered. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about mental health and human services while gaining hands‑on experience. Compensation is $20.00 per hour.

Job Duties

• Provide the support needed to maximize the successful integration of participants into independent community living.
• Provide support, guidance, and hands‑on assistance in learning and relearning skills of independent daily living.
• Provide contact and instruction to promote wellness and recovery.
• Offer structure, coordination of services, and act as liaisons to other agencies.
• Offer supportive, goal‑oriented counseling when needed, with a focus on decision making and problem‑solving skills.
• Assist with case management duties including but not limited to securing and maintaining housing, applying and obtaining services (i.e. food stamps, social security, etc.).
• Help and coordinate transportation.
• Help plan and encourage recreational activities.
• All other duties deemed necessary.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have proficiency and adaptability with computer software and web‑based systems with the aptitude to learn additional systems quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to work with a diverse population of urban, suburban and rural cultures and with community members from varying socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Demonstrate a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
• Must be able to work regularly outside the office and in the field to engage with clients.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
